Monthly Price Changes:
- Pork: Average retail prices of selected pork products (incl. Bacon products) reached R107.09/kg, 0.4% higher than during July 2024.
- Chicken: Chicken* retail prices reached R83.05/kg, 6.0% lower than in July 2024.
- Beef: Beef retail prices were 0.1% higher in August 2024 than in July 2024, reaching R128.16/kg.
- Lamb: Lamb prices were 1.6% higher over the same period, reaching R156.32/kg.
Annual Price Changes:
- Pork: Average retail prices of selected pork products (incl. Bacon) were 3.7% lower in August 2024 than in August 2023.
- Chicken: Chicken retail prices were on average 4.5% higher in August 2024 than in August 2023.
- Beef: Beef retail prices were 2.1% lower in August 2024 than in August 2023.
- Lamb: Lamb retail prices were 1.7% lower in August 2024 than in August 2023.
