Agbiz has acknowledged the announcement of the retirement of its chairperson, Sean Walsh, from his role as chief executive officer of KAL Group Limited after nearly 15 years of dedicated leadership. Walsh will, however, continue to serve as chairperson of Agbiz until the Agbiz Congress in June.
Walsh has played a pivotal role in shaping KAL Group Limited and the broader agribusiness sector in South Africa. Appointed in 2011, he led the organisation through a period of significant growth and transformation, building on a career spanning operations, logistics, manufacturing, retail, and agribusiness leadership across several prominent organisations. His professional background includes executive roles at SA Breweries, Sefalana Holdings Company Ltd, Derek Brink Holdings, SBV Services, and GWK Ltd. He holds an Honours B.Econ degree in Transport Economics from Stellenbosch University.
Major contribution to organised agribusinesses
Beyond his corporate leadership, Walsh has made a significant contribution to Agbiz, where he has served as chairperson and as a longstanding member of the Agbiz steering committee.

Boshoff added that Walsh’s continued role as chairperson until Congress will ensure continuity as Agbiz prepares for its next phase of leadership and strategic engagement.
