#flashbackfriday Plaas TV 17 July – 21 July 2023

This week Plaas TV brought viewers more interesting content, and this is #flashbackfriday. Below is a recap of the week’s episodes:

  • Gareth Allen of G&M Farming was recently announced the winner of the Mpumalanga Young Farmer of the Year award for 2023. Plaas TV spoke to him about his vision for the future as well as the challenges they must overcome.
  • Santam has been the main sponsor of the Santam Agriculture National Silage Competition for the past ten years. The Plaas TV team met up with Daniel Stevens at Nampo recently where he elaborated on their involvement in the competition. He also expands on risk management and the relevant products and services that Santam offers.
  • The IFPA Southern Africa Conference is one of the most important and exciting events on the South African fresh produce industry calendar. This year, the conference will focus on transforming challenges into opportunities. Jaco Oosthuizen, CEO of the RSA Group, recently visited the Plaas TV studio to elaborate on what the industry can expect form this year’s conference.
  • Agri Wes-Kaap het onlangs ‘n simpleks radiofrekwensie by ICASA laat registreer om boere met ‘n kommunikasiemiddel te bemagtig wat nie staatmaak op enige kragvoorsiening of selfoonsein nie. Plaas TV gesels met Louis Wessels hieroor.
  • It is #ResearchFriday which means it is time to once again become acquainted with the research projects conducted by the team at the Agricultural Research Council. This week we visit the ARC-Small Grain Institute campus in Bethlehem.
