The results on a test report are not just a result, it is a mouthpiece that communicates a specific message to you. Just like in the model of communication, there is ‘noise’ that can influence or distort the test result conveying message.
Using brucellosis testing as an example, the speaker will point out the possible ‘noise’ influences on test results in this webinar.

Deon Gallus, brucellosis laboratory manager at DSA Lab Services
Deon qualified as a veterinary technologist in 1993 and was employed at Onderstepoort Biological Products (OBP) for 20 years. He spent most of his time in the quality control department, focussing on quality control testing of bacterial vaccines. He completed his B.com degree in 2009 and the last two years at OBP he worked in the sales department as a technical sales consultant.
The following two and a half years he worked as a sale consultant at IDEXX promoting serology tests and rapid test kits to veterinarians. In 2012 he moved to Deltamune as a key account manager focussing on the promotion of laboratory services to the dairy, poultry, and food industries. During Covid-19, he ventured into the trading of sanitary and cleaning materials.
Deon was hired by the Dairy Standard Agency (DSA) at the start of 2022 to them in the DSA national monitoring program. In November 2024 he was appointed as the DSA’s brucellosis laboratory manager, and he is currently managing the project of the development of the brucellosis laboratory. The laboratory focus will be mainly in the dairy industry and will also provide a platform for future brucellosis testing research.
