AFMA announces new board

The Animal Feed Manufacturers Association (AFMA) has announced the appointment of its new board of directors following its 78th annual general meeting, held on 5 September 2025.

The new board reflects both continuity in leadership and a fresh commitment to driving growth, sustainability, and innovation within South Africa’s feed industry. Anina Hunter of Epol Animal Feed was re-elected as chairperson, while Thinus van Lill of Quantum Foods – the longest-serving board member – was appointed vice-chairperson.

The full AFMA board for 2025/2026 is:

  • Anina Hunter – Epol Animal Feed.
  • Martin Oosthuizen – De Heus.
  • Brett Roosendaal – Epol Animal Feed.
  • Michael Schmitz – Meadow Feeds.
  • Dieter Fleischmann – AFGRI Animal Feeds.
  • Paul Saunders – Sovereign Foods.
  • Francois du Toit – Quantum Foods (NOVA Feeds).
  • Ruan Stander – Meadow Feeds.
  • Dr Franscois Crots – Country Birds Holdings.
  • Thinus van Lill – Quantum Foods (NOVA Feeds).
  • Dr Josef van Wyngaard – Voermol Feeds.

The association welcomed Martin Oosthuizen to the board for the first time. He succeeds Sharlene Moodley, who stepped down after seven years of service. AFMA extended its gratitude to Moodley for her “important role in supporting AFMA’s objectives and her commitment during her term.”

With the combined expertise of its board, AFMA said it remains well-positioned to safeguard industry values, and continue serving members and stakeholders as a trusted voice in South Africa’s agricultural sector. – AFMA press release
