Leading beef producers lead by example. This is the view of the Agricultural Research Council, and they strive to give recognition to these producers in their National Beef Performers Awards.
Why include a mentor of the year category?
The primary aim of this award category, sponsored by Molatek, is to acknowledge producers who possess exceptional leadership skills and make an effort to build capacity and skills through information dissemination, mentoring, and assisting fellow producers to adopt and implement relevant technologies and management skills to enhance their productivity and sustainability.

In short, this award category assesses how a producer ploughs back his or her skills, knowledge, and experience to the benefit of others. Producers who enter this category should have a record of accomplishments that attest to their efforts to train and mentor others and, very importantly, show the impact of their actions and mentoring initiatives.
