A beekeeping company in Minesota, USA is re-imagining commercial beekeeping. The company, Bolton Bees, is planting wild flowers on land used for solar farms, to help bees with dwindling colony sizes survive in the harsh environment. This also helps farmers in the surrounding area attract more bees to their farms for pollination.
Although the agricultural community has been concerned by the amount of agricultural land that is now used for housing solar panels, this novel concept of keeping bees on solar farms now also supports agriculture in the area. The honey that is collected on these solar farms is sold and branded as Solar Honey.
