Minister of basic education, Angie Motshekga, recently attended a handover at Trio High School in the Free State. Trio High School in Kroonstad is made up of two Kroonstad high schools that were separate institutions until recently.

During the handover, Trio High School received a brand-new tractor. This was made possible by the Republic of Korea and the Free State Department of Education.

According to the SABC, the donation was delivered by minister Motshekga, Free State member of the executive council for education, Tate Makgoe, and the South Korean ambassador to South Africa, Chull-joo Park.

Park was quoted as saying: “Throughout the world, representatives of Korea have this kind of a programme of co-operation with development ministries, and we think South Africa has a lot of potential in the agricultural sector.

“That is the kind of area that we utilised for economic development and also it can be a possible solution to the youth unemployment issue, so that is the main reason why we have co-operation with the ministry of basic education in the sector of agriculture.” – Ursula Human, AgriOrbit
