Jonsson Workwear paves the way for road safety with VIZI Belts

Twenty-seven million people use South African (SA) roads daily, with the majority including workers and students on their daily commute. Safety on our roads is a discussion all South Africans should be having. Poor road and public transport infrastructure, lack of road safety education, and inadequate street lighting are among the causes of the accidents we  see on our roads. An alarming report from the University of Cape Town’s Centre for Transport Studies states that 47 people are killed on our roads daily, with the number climbing to 17 000 people annually.

Jonsson Workwear’s visible solution

Jonsson Workwear has been the leading provider of quality, durable workwear, designed to keep people safe while hard at work. Their High Viz range of protective workwear has been used to combat low-light conditions in a range of environments.

Aware of the fact that increasingly poor visibility on the roads results in higher numbers of road accidents, the company, together with The Jonsson Foundation, is embarking on an initiative to protect all road users by increasing their visibility, thereby reducing the risk of road accidents.

Kicking off during Transport Month in October, the Jonsson Workwear VIZI Belt initiative will show the company’s commitment to giving away three million high-visibility belts, free of charge, over the next three years. The aim of this initiative is to keep vulnerable pedestrians and motorists safe and to prevent sight-related tragedies on SA roads.

VIZI Belts: One size fits all

The Jonsson VIZI Belts are fit for any pedestrian activity, whether commuting to school or work, walking your dog, crossing the street, or heading out for a jog. The belt’s versatility has made it adaptable to be worn around the waist, over the shoulder or tied to a bag. The neon-orange high-visibility belts are made from a high-quality 50mm wide tape that allows wearers to be visible even during the day. The reflective silver strip on the belt helps to increase visibility in low light conditions.

These belts are made available, free of charge at any of the Jonsson Workwear stores nationwide. To locate a store near you, visit https://www.jonssonworkwear.com/store-locator.

The company encourages other organisations to get involved and do their bit to protect people on our roads. Information on bulk distribution to outlying areas can be found on their website at https://jonssonworkwear.com/vizi-belt.Compiled by Phillip Crafford, AgriOrbit
