Angola plans to put a ban on its import of meat from other countries to make way for imports from Namibia. Despite the two countries’ proximity, trade between Namibia and its northern neighbour totals a mere 2.5 %. Angola’s livestock industry is still in its infancy and, with more collaboration with Namibia, aims to improve this sector.

Angola’s Central Bank governor, Dr Valter Flipe da Silva, has told the president of Namibia, Hage Geingob, that Angola’s government wants to achieve the success that Namibia has with its livestock industry.
